Dr Judy Mikovits joined NIH in 1980 as a Postdoctoral Scholar in Molecular Virology at the National Cancer Institute, where she collaborated with Dr Frank Ruscetti and helped him isolate the HIV virus and its link to AIDS. Her boss at NIH, Dr Anthony Fauci delayed publication of their paper for 6 months to let his protégé Robert Gallo replicate, publish and take credit for their discovery.
The delay allowed AIDS to spread around the globe, which in turn helped Tony Fauci get promoted in 1984 (How Fitting) to Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, where he remains to this day.
Dr. Judy Mikovits earned her BA in chemistry with a specialization in biology from the University of Virginia in 1980 and her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from George Washington University in 1992. In her 35-year quest to understand and treat chronic diseases, she has co-authored seminal papers culminating at least a decade of research in each of four fields: immunology, natural products chemistry, epigenetics, and HIV/AIDs drug development.
